On Tuesday, April 25th, a hybrid training for customs officials was held in Banja Luka. The training was held by our colleagues Emira Trgo Vrabac and Selma Custovic. A total of 18 customs officers were present in person, while other customs officers from other branches of regional centers Sarajevo, Tuzla and Mostar participated online.
The focus of the training was to present examples of original and counterfeit products, and also to provide customs officers with a level of knowledge about sophisticated ways in which counterfeit goods are made and enable them to detect such goods when performing their work activities at border crossings.
The possibility to distinguish counterfeit goods include the special manner in which products are packaged, the method and the location of the application of the brand logo, characteristics and unique data on labels related to the marking of size, country of origin, authorized distributors and importers.
We have passed on useful tips and techniques to our participants on how to identify authentic vs. counterfeit goods that will aid them in the field.
