ZMP Serbia Held Annual Training for Customs Officers on Counterfeit Good

October 26, 2026

On 30 September 2026, ZMP Serbia held its annual training session in Belgrade for customs officers, focusing on the identification of counterfeit goods and the protection of intellectual property rights.

The training was delivered by lawyers Vladimir Marenovic, Milica Mancic, Suzana Doncic Stanimirovic and Ognjen Pantelic. Through expert presentations and side-by-side comparisons of genuine and counterfeit products, participants gained practical insights into the key indicators that can help identify counterfeit goods during customs inspections.

Lively discussions and questions from participants made the session particularly valuable. Customs officers also shared practical experiences from their daily work. Together, they explored common challenges, especially how to assess whether goods may infringe intellectual property rights.

Participants received practical materials to help them identify counterfeit products. The trainers also explained how customs officers should handle suspicious goods at the border and during customs clearance.

The positive feedback from participants highlighted the importance of continuous professional training. It also reinforced the value of close cooperation between customs authorities, intellectual property rights holders and their representatives in combating counterfeit goods.

ZMP Serbia continues to strengthen its efforts to combat counterfeiting across the region through professional training and cooperation. In addition to Serbia, we have delivered training sessions in Bosnia and Herzegovina and North Macedonia. We have also organised further sessions in Croatia, Montenegro and Slovenia, which will take place in the near future.
