For the third consecutive year, ZMP Serbia proudly organized a hands-on training session for the Customs Administration and Market Inspectorate in Belgrade – continuing our long-term commitment to supporting IP enforcement and raising awareness about counterfeit goods.
The event combined expert presentations with real-life product demonstrations, showcasing genuine and counterfeit samples from past infringement cases handled on behalf of trademark owners.
The main goal of the session was to strengthen participants’ understanding of intellectual property rights and to help them distinguish between authentic and counterfeit goods in real-world scenarios.
This year’s training was particularly significant as it marked the third consecutive event of this kind, reaffirming the importance of continuous education and cooperation between institutions and rights holders. The event was further enhanced by the presence of the Assistant Minister of Internal and External Trade, who emphasized the need for ongoing efforts in combating counterfeiting and supporting enforcement officers in their daily work.
The session gathered around 40 participants – including 20 customs officers and 20 market inspectors – who explored practical tools for identifying counterfeit goods, reviewed brand IP portfolios, and compared authentic versus fake product examples.
Our colleague Vladimir Marenovic delivered the opening speech and colleagues Milica Mancic, Suzana Doncic Stanimirovic, Dusan Kovacevic, and Dusko Majkic – presented nine rights holders and the training concluded on a highly positive note, with participants expressing great appreciation for the opportunity to gain hands-on experience. Many highlighted how the session expanded their understanding of the brand’s product range and improved their ability to identify counterfeit items in the field.
The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, confirming that this type of collaborative and practical training not only enhances enforcement efficiency but also contributes to the stronger protection of intellectual property rights in Serbia.
